On December 20, the School Committee presented a slide show to explain how the district overspent $400,000 in fiscal 2006 because of increasing special education costs and additional hiring. The presentation also included a discussion of the impact on the FY07 budget which includes overestimated revenue of $600,000.
The presentation was well received and Town councilors said they were impressed with the explanation. “I think you have a good handle on what happened here,” Councilor Thomas Doak said.
